Blind

I'm taking a little break from my Nanowrimo novel, which I am proud to say is mostly on track. I am just below 20,000 words which is right around where I should be. I would have had more, but I had to go back to work this week so I haven't had a whole lot of time. My story is pretty cliche for a fantasy novel, but it is really fun to write and that is the whole point of Nanowrimo.

I have this thought that pops into my head every so often. I think the world would be a better place if everyone was blind. Did you ever see the movie "Mask"? With Cher and that kid is deformed. Well the blind girl is the only one that sees him for who he really is. Not his body but his soul. We are souls with bodies yet we treat one another and ourselves as if we are our bodies. It is hard to distinguish between the two but they are separate and our bodies are just what carries our souls or whatever you call that thing that makes us unique. Oh and our bodies hold our guts in too.

If we were blind, we wouldn't care if someone was too fat or too skinny or blonde or brunette or tall or short. We would just care if they were a person we like to be around. You would always know that someone liked you for who you were, not what you looked like or what their first impressions were.

Of course we would also be walking into walls a lot more. Things to think about at 5:00 am.
